If lupus was a person, they would be a total asshole. I mean as if it isn’t enough giving you intense never ending pain, hair loss, brain fog, exhaustion, rashes, and a myriad of other horrible things. Lupus also decides, to fuck you over even further by giving you painful skin lesions!
I mean what’s the deal with lupus and lesions on your skin, anyway??
They come out of nowhere.
They come with horrible pain.
And when they come, they are always in the worst possible places!
Personally, the ones that decide to use my mouth as a temporary vacation home, are the most annoying. It hurts to talk, eat, and drink. I detest them. Then there are the ones that decide they’d rather live out in the open just to make you feee extra special and pretty! These nasty bastards keep you from enjoying the sun and make you seriously self conscience!!
I’ve been researching lupus skin lesions quite a bit to try and figure out natural remedies to help stop, prevent, and decrease my time of suffering with them when they do come for an unwanted visit.
Diet Remedies to Help Prevent Lupus Lesions on your Skin
Diet is the key to helping relive many ailments, and it is the number one natural remedy to help prevent and heal lupus skin lesions.
Ugh. I hate when anything messes with my food choices. Sadly, there is no denying that diet affects lupus. What you eat matters. Too much sugar and unhealthy food choices, and I get an onslaught of lupus symptoms.
Here are a few tips I found…
Eat more fatty fish like wild caught salmon and tuna. And less red meat.
Get more vitamin D in your diet.
Limit nightshade vegetables. This is a hit or miss. Some people are affected, some are not. You will need to see for yourself.
Watch your alcohol intake. Ugh… I love my wine!
Drink plenty of water. And try not to only drink it cold. Room temperature and warm are better options.
Coconut and olive oils are far better choices than butter.
And a few other foods that are good for lupus skin care are; avocado, nuts, seeds, flax, berries, cucumbers, and green tea.
Unfortunately, there is no known cure for lupus, however, diet definitely can help limit the onslaughts.
Chinese herbs are also a great natural remedy that I will discuss in another post.
A couple more quick natural remedies I have done that help. Sometimes, only a little, but any relief is better than none!
Teaspoon of raw honey helps with the burn.
Warm salt water gargle.
Hot green tea.
Plain, no sugar added, Greek yogurt.
Other Locations of Skin Lesions:
Wear plenty of sunscreen when you must be outside.
Avoid florescent lights.
These are just a few natural remedies that I have personally found help with lupus skin lesions. I mean, like I said, there is no cure, and many many times lupus wins. However, when I find even a smidgen of relief, in the world of lupus, I take it as a major win!
