Lupus yeast infections make me miserable. My body becomes a playground for an overgrowth of yeast to the point that I want to skin myself alive! It’s painful, itchy, and a surefire recipe for misery! Lupus in and of itself does not cause yeast infections, however, since it is a disease that affects our immune system, it is like having a huge welcome sign for the yeast onslaught! Seemingly little things are always a huge pain in the ass with lupus. It sucks.
A lupus yeast infection is far worse than any yeast infection I had before lupus decided to park its sorry ass in my body! I rarely got them and they we an easy fix! I would simply purchase the cheapest over the counter yeast infection medication I could find, and within a couple days, my relief came. This is not the case when you have lupus!
Lupus relentlessly invades your body and does not allow your immune system to bring you any aid! You have to find ways to creatively battle this insidious foe!
Let me tell you, my encounters with lupus yeast infections have left me so distraught that I became virtually hopeless in my situation. I mean it is not only a painful and horrible experience, it is also extremely embarrassing to talk about whats going on in your nether regions! But, the yeast didn’t stop there! It invaded under my breasts and armpits as well. It was an all out war between lupus, yeast, and little ole me!
So, I did what any sane woman with wifi does, I took my battle to Google! I discovered that I am not alone! Sadly, that brought me little comfort as I scratched myself raw from the relentless attack. However, I was not going to give up! There had to be a way, a way that I could afford!
I read countless articles about invasive yeast infections, and how hard they are to get rid of in a healthy immune system, let alone one taken over by lupus! I even found some links promising me that they could cure me for a “reasonable” price of way too much money for my single mom budget.
I was frustrated to say the least. The constant itching and rawness between my legs and armpits pushed me to find a way, and after a lot of trial and error, I finally did!
How I Manage My Lupus Yeast Infections
I purchased 5 products that are easy to find, and will not break the bank. Plus, they have a myriad of other health benefits that make them worth it!
Here is where I should say that hopefully you read my disclaimer (link is also in my navigation menu). I am not a doctor, and should never replace the advice of one. I am only sharing what I HAVE DONE and what works for ME.
OK, on to my regimen…
- Azo Yeast Plus Medicine.
- Braggs Raw Apple Cider Vinegar.
- Yerba Prima Bentonite Detox
- NOW brand “Pure Bentonite Clay Powder”
Here is how I used these 5 products to aid in my lupus yeast infection battle:
Probiotic. Started taking daily–even when no yeast infection is active.
Azo. I only take when I need to. My Azo box said to take one pill 3x per day. I took 3 in morning and 3 in evening when I was in the most miserable part of my battle, then once it was under control, I took 2, twice a day, and then the normal dose for a few days after I was clean of yeast.
Braggs Raw Apple Cider Vinegar. I use this two ways.
1. I take 2 tablespoons internally twice a day. Once first thing in the morning, and once right before bed. I add a little warm water and chug it quickly. I do this every day whether I have yeast or not.
2. I use it directly on my skin where yeast infection is active. Yes, even on my nether regions! I simply soak a cotton ball with it, and gently pat it on the area. I do this 2-3 times a day. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have any RAW areas from scratching, you may not want to do this part. I have, and it stings like a mofo. However, I was desperate and probably insane because of it!
Yerba Prima Bentonite Detox. I suggest you look on Amazon and Google to find best pricing for this. Some places over charge. I do not always buy from the same place. I go wherever it is cheapest at the time! I take one tablespoon 2x per day when yeast is active, and only once per day as part of my regular lupus health regimin.
Pure Bentonite Clay Powder. Unfortunately, not all bentonite clay products are pure, so I use NOW brand because I, personally believe that it is a trusted brand. It comes in a very large bottle for $10-$12, and lasts me several months or longer. I only use it when yeast is active, or if I need another type of skin detox. I don’t really measure this part of my self treatment, but I would estimate about one teaspoon or so of the clay, and just enough of the Braggs apple cider vinegar to make the clay gooey. Then, I slather it all over the infected areas. I only do this when I will be home for awhile. After it dries, you can take a shower and wash it all off. I usually put it on before bed for my nether region. I gently rub some on the area, then I put a a pad on, and go to sleep. It brings me MUCH relief so I can sleep. NOTE: Do not use panties you like. Use your period panties.
This may all seem tedious, however, it works for me! And, if you suffer from lupus yeast infections, you know how bad it an get! Plus, they are all great products that you can use even when you are not battling yeast!
Is it a cure? No.
Will it prevent yeast overgrowth? No, I don’t think so. However, I do notice I get them far less, and that when I do, it is because I ate the wrong food. Yes, food matters in lupus yeast infections! But, that’s a whole other post for another day!
